James Parker

Wallace, SC

James Floyd Parker, age 93, entered into rest on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.  Born in Chesterfield, SC.  He was the son of the late James Theodore and Dolly Rivers Parker.  He is survived by two sons, James Floyd Parker, Jr. (Diana) of Conway, SC and Randy “Catfish” Parker (Ann) of Wallace, SC.  Two daughters, Claudia Freeman of Wallace, SC and Kathy (Jimmie) Teal of Wallace, SC.  One sister, Gloria Trader of Hartsville, SC and one step sister Sandra Morris of Hartsville, SC. Six grandchildren, Jimmy Brock of Shreveport, LA, Mandy (Andy) Griggs of Benton, LA, Mike Teal of Cheraw, SC, Tyra White (Mark Fuleihan) of Florence, SC, Gene Freeman of Wallace, SC and Jarame Parker of Conway, SC. Five great grandchildren, Drew and Lizzie Griggs of Benton, LA, Sabrina and Bridget Teal of Cheraw, SC, and Joseph White of Florence, SC.  One honorary grandchild, Aaron Melton of Cheraw, SC.

He is preceded in death by his wife Frances Parker, son Ricky Parker, grandson Ray Adams and step mother Ida Mae Parker.

He was a faithful member of the Cheraw Church of God, since 1955.  He served on the church council, served as church clerk, was a Sunday school teacher and handyman. He retired from J. P. Stevens (Delta) after 34 years of employment.  He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

His hobbies included fishing, taking care of his grape vines, reading, cooking, and spending time with his family, church family and friends.

The family will receive friends 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Cheraw Church of God, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service will be held 4:00 pm Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the Cheraw Church of God.

Burial will follow the funeral service at St. David's Cemetery, Cheraw, SC.
