Ann Faile Mangum, 77, passed away peacefully at Levine and Dickinson Hospice House of Lake Norman on 9/04/16 with family holding her hands and surrounded by the Holy Spirit. Her battle with hydrocephalus dementia, brain surgery and a subsequent brain hemorrhage was nothing short of heroic. Ann was born in Monroe, North Carolina to the late John B. Faile and Nell W. Faile. She had one brother, the late Dr. James T. Faile. Ann grew up in Kershaw, SC and after graduating from high school, she attended Winthrop University where she had the honor of being selected for the May-court and received a BA in early childhood education. After graduating from Winthrop University, Ann began her life long passion and career in Education. Ann was the heart of her family. She was a spirited and extraordinary woman who was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She had an uncanny ability to draw people in and the gift of putting a smile on their faces. Her love for life, family, friends, children and teaching defined her. She was a rock for everyone in her family and to friends. She enjoyed playing tennis at Cheraw Country Club, gardening and staying at Wendi and John's houses. She loved the beach and enjoyed family trips. The highlight of her life was the birth of her three grandchildren. Her wisdom and advice over the years will always be remembered.
