A. Stuart Nickles, Jr.

Cheraw, SC

The Reverend Albert Stuart Nickles, Jr. 77, died January 26, 2016. Born in Hodges, SC he was the son of the late Albert Stuart Nickles, Sr. and Ruby Elvera Matthews Nickles. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School, Davidson College and Columbia Theological Seminary. Rev. Nickles served the congregations of Presbyterian churches in Westminster/Richland, Barnwell, Cheraw, SC and Montgomery, AL.

His survivors include, Virginia “Ginny” F. Nickles of Cheraw, SC, a son, A. Stuart Nickles, III (Nickie) of Lexington, SC, a daughter, Virginia “Ginger” Sloop (Gray, III) of The Woodlands, TX, grandchildren, John and Alex Nickles, and Taylor and Grayson Sloop.

Reverend Nickles was preceded in death by his parents listed above and a sister, Nancy N. Cobb.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 30, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church, Cheraw, SC. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
