Brenda Carole Campbell Rayfield, 77, died on Thursday, May 5, 2022. Born, August 27, 1944, in Charlotte, NC, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Hoyle and Edith Earnhardt Campbell. Brenda was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, Class of 1962. After living in several cities in North Carolina, and marrying the love of her life, Lanny Reese Rayfield, Sr., she settled down in Cheraw, SC where she lived for 50 years. Mrs. Rayfield was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC where she was a member of the Fred & Lorraine Harris Sunday School Class.
She worked as a Bank Teller at South Carolina National Bank, at Dr. Richard Owens’ Office, for seven years with Glen Folsom, CPA in Bishopville, SC, and finally at Chesco Services in Cheraw, SC for 18 years. Brenda was an avid fan of NC State and the SC Gamecocks, and she enjoyed playing Bridge and Bunco, along with Shopping and spending time with her grandchildren.
Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lanny Reese Rayfield, Sr.; a brother, Bob Campbell; and her dogs and cats, Smokey, Misty, Scat #1, Scat #2, Bruno, Ace, Hershey, Bruiser #1, and Bruiser #2, who was her last baby.
Brenda leaves behind to cherish her memory, her sons, Lanny Reese Rayfield, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Cheraw, SC, and Patrick Rayfield and wife, Jennifer of Columbia, SC; and grandchildren, Erin Leigh Riggins (Jake) of Rock Hill, SC, Lanny “Reese” Rayfield, III (Abigail) of Irmo, SC, Anna Elizabeth Rayfield (Chris Cooke) Columbia, SC, and Julia Porth Rayfield of Greenville, SC
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC. Burial will follow at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, just prior to the service on Thursday in The Parlor at First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC.
