Carlos A. Garces

Carlos A. Garces, 72, died Tuesday, October 11, 2023. Born in Guines, Havana, Cuba, he was a son of the late Fancisco and Alicia Garces. Carlos attended Living Word Ministry, Chesterfield, SC, where he was a member of their security team. He retired from Crown, Inc where he worked for 20+ years as a welder and fabricator. Carlos had a lifetime membership with the NRA and SC Sportsman. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed target shooting, woodworking, building furniture, but his favorite pastime was mowing his grass, even when it didn’t need it! Carlos lived life to the fullest, spending time with his family, riding four-wheelers and eating great cheesecake.

Carlos is survived by his wife of 50 years, Jonnie Polson Garces, sons, Juan (Angela) Garces, of Lancaster, SC, and Carlos A. (Tara) Garces, Jr., of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Frank Garces, Jr., of Miami, FL, a sister, Amelie Mondes, of Illinois, six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above.

A Celebration of Life will be held 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Living Word Ministry, Chesterfield, SC.

Burial will be in Old St. Davids Cemetery, at a later date.
