Mrs. Carole Carr Hennessee, 86, died on Thursday, January 19, 2023. Born, November 18, 1936, in Wallace, NC, she was a daughter of the late James O. and Hazel McLaughlin Carr. Carole was a graduate of East Carolina University and of the University of South Carolina where she received her master’s degree. She had teaching career that spanned 40 years. Mrs. Hennessee was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, and enjoyed her coffee.
Along with her parents, listed above, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Tom Hennessee; a son, John Carr Hennessee; and a brother, James Carr.
Mrs. Hennessee leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Janet Godwin (Roger) of Greer, SC, and Ann Shearer of Clover, SC; a brother, Don Carr (Judy) of High Point, NC; grandchildren, Thomas Godwin (Allison), Andrew Godwin (Lizzie), Kathryn Godwin, Emily Godwin, Will Shearer, and David Shearer; and great-grandchildren, Bennett Godwin, and Jay Godwin.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at First United Methodist Church in Cheraw, SC.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Parlor of First United Methodist Church.
The family will have a private burial at St. David’s Cemetery in Cheraw, SC prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to First United Methodist Church, 117 Third Street, Cheraw, SC 29520; or to the St. David's Cemetery Association, PO Box 1196, Cheraw, SC 29520.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Hennessee family in their time of grief.
