Janie Taylor

Mrs. Janie Hopkins Kirkley Taylor, 96, entered her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.  Born, October 12, 1924 in Cheraw, SC, Janie was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.Z. Hopkins, Sr.  She attended Cheraw High School and Wingate Jr. College.  Janie retired from J.P. Stevens and loved to cook and plan meals for her family.  She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cheraw.

Janie was the widow of the late Robert I. Kirkley and the late Col. James O. Taylor, Jr.  She was also preceded in death by her father, Charlie Z. Hopkins and Rilla Thompson Hopkins; her sisters, Irene H. West, Lily Maude Lowrimore, Josephine Gates Coates; brothers, C. Z. Hopkins, Jr., James T. Hopkins and Bryant Hopkins.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Lisa Kirkley Hewitte; grandson, Steven C. Hewitte and fiancé, Mandy Hewitte; a great granddaughter, Chloe and former son-in-law, Mark Hewitte.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at First Presbyterian Church of Cheraw.  Burial will follow at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw.  A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
