Jean Riley

Jean Margaret Riley , 60, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at her residence. She was born November 14, 1951 in Amityville NY to Sybil McCarter and Howard Riley. Jean was a graduate of Western Carolina University Class of 1973 with a BSW in Social Work. She did her internship at Black Mountain VA Hospital. She was a social worker at the Huntersville NC Hospital until the 1980s for over 10 years. She was a Social Worker at various Nursing Homes in Charlotte NC area including the Pines in Davidson NC. In 1992 she began working for Cleveland County Health Department with the Baby Love program to help expectant mothers. Then she transferred to the communicable diseases area in which she helped patients with AIDS. Jean also worked in her free time to help patients who needed extra help. She retired from Cleveland County Health Department in 2009 and continued to care for her mother who died in December 2010.

She is survived by her sister Patricia (William) Riley Eskridge of Cheraw, SC, a nephew, Tim Eskridge, grandnephews, Bredan Eskridge, Landen Eskridge and Jade Eskridge. Jean was preceded in death by her parents listed above.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM Friday, November 16, 2012 in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, SC. The family will receive friends at the graveside just before and after the service.
