Jerry Preston Buck

Born on April 10, 1942, in Darlington, SC, son of William Buck Sr. and Myrtle Blackman Buck.

Jerry left school early on to take care of his sick father and took over his business as a mechanic. He owned his shop for over 40 years, known as “Buck’s Garage”.

Most people still remember his old Corvettes as he loved to joy ride and show them off, but they most especially remember his red 1964 Corvette. Jerry loved old cars and racing and braves baseball and the Gamecocks. He was a member of Wallace Baptist Church in Wallace, South Carolina.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Sue Byrd Buck, of the home, his daughter Heather Buck Watson, of Florence, his stepsons Rodney Byrd (Erin), Steve Byrd (Michelle), and David Byrd (Christy), all of Cheraw, his brother Seldon Buck (Pam), of Springfield, TN, his sister Norma Gunter, of Darlington, his granddaughter Faith Watson, his seven other grandchildren, Clayton Byrd, Lindsey Gainey (Brad), Lizz Byrd, Emilee Byrd, Julia Kate Byrd, Logan Byrd, and Jackson Byrd, three great grandchildren, Molly, Maggie, Marah and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.

Jerry was predeceased by his parents, his brothers William “Bill” Buck, Jr, Henry “Gene” Buck, his sisters Barbara Ann “Bobbie” Lubelsky, and Aleen Suggs.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at Wallace Baptist Church in Wallace, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, prior to the service at the church.  

Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Buck family during their time of grief.
