JoAnna Robertson

Cheraw, SC

JoAnna Marie Robertson, 43, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021.  She was born on November 17, 1977, in Nocona, TX.

JoAnna graduated from Olney High School in Olney, TX where she played softball, basketball, and ran track.  Following High School Graduation, she graduated from the University of South Carolina-Sumter with a bachelor’s degree in Education, and then she graduated from Capella University with a master’s degree in Education Administration.  JoAnna’s passion was Science.  She taught 6th grade Science at Hamlet Middle School for several years, and in 2013 she gained employment at Long Middle School in Cheraw, where she focused on science. She was over the academic bowl and yearbook and was an assistant softball coach in addition to being involved with several school organizations. She went on to teach Science at Camden Middle School at the beginning of the 2021 school year.  She was always dedicated to her students and always went above and beyond what was expected.

She was a wonderful mother and loved her daughters more than anything.  JoAnna also loved teaching and loved her students, often being a mother figure to them.  She was always the center of attention and was able to bring laughter and humor into any room no matter the circumstances.

JoAnna leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Ashley Robertson and Morgan Robertson both of Cheraw, SC; her husband, Jason Robertson of Cheraw, SC; a brother, Clifford Huggins of Montague, TX; a sister, Brandi Hamill of Holiday, TX; brother-in-law, Justin Robertson and his wife, Kim of Cheraw, SC; a nephew, Gareth Robertson (Monkey); cousins, Kelli and Cord Coyle, Miranda Gilbert (Goober), and C.J. Schneider; and an aunt, Kathy Schneider (Nana) of Olney, TX.

Preceded in death by her grandparents Clifford and Margaret Huggins of Olney, TX; an uncle, E.K. Schneider (Poppy) of Olney, TX.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021in the Family Life Center at Cheraw First Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC.  Burial will follow at Old Saint David’s Cemetery in Cheraw, SC.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service in the Family Life Center at the church.
