John Robert "Robbie" Laney

In loving memory of John Robert Laney, born on July 4, 1953, and passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025 surrounded by his family. A man of great character and immense warmth, to know him was to love him. 

Robbie had a profound love for the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing for brim at his pond and riding his side by side around the farm with his loyal dog, Belle. These simple joys brought him immense happiness and peace.

For 40 years, he poured his heart and soul into his work as a contractor, transforming houses into homes with his exceptional skills and unwavering dedication. His craftsmanship and attention to detail were unmatched, and he found great fulfillment in every project he undertook. His legacy lives on in the beautiful spaces he created and the lives he touched through his work.

Robbie is survived by his wife, Karan Laney of the home, a granddaughter, Juliana (Mark Elliot) Laney, sisters, Sheree (Robert Elick) Laney of Foley, AL, and Tootsie (John) Holmes of Orange Beach, AL, and many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ruth Laney, a son, Jonathan Laney and a daughter, Shannon Laney.

He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a doting grandfather, a caring brother, and a steadfast friend. His family and friends were the center of his world, and he always made sure they were taken care of, loved, and supported. His kindness, generosity, and character will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Robbie Laney leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and cherished memories. He was so, so loved, and his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in our hearts forever.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 1:00PM to 2:00PM in foyer of Cheraw First Baptist Family Life Center.

A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, in the Cheraw First Baptist Family Life Center.

A private family burial will follow.
