Joseph Clarence Orearl Bergeron, 94, died Sunday, September 27, 2020. Born in Melvindale, MI, he was a son of the late Joseph Ernest and Alma Marie Cornellier Bergeron. He was the widower of Maryann Bergeron. He was a WWII US Army Veteran. Mr. Bergeron was a member of Cheraw First Baptist Church. He was a retired barber (50+years). He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and photography. He loved the Lord, his family and everyone he met. He loved talking to everyone he met. He used his barbering profession as an opportunity to witness. Even after he "retired" to Florida, he would take his barber kit to homebound people in his retirement community to provide a service to them and his Lord. Once word got out that he was a barber, people started making appointments to come see him. His garage turned into a barber shop and yet again, an opportunity for him to witness.
Surviving is his son, Mark A. (Jeanette) Bergeron of Monroe, GA, a daughter, Ruth (Bill) Carter of Cheraw, SC, a sister, Jeannine Freiwald of Surprise, AZ, seven grandchildren, Kristin, Bradley, Keith, Steven, Scott, Amanda, Shari, and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife listed above, a son, Paul E. Bergeron, a great grandchild, Carter Franklin Howiler, and a brother, Rudolph Bergeron.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2020, at 2:15 PM at Cheraw First Baptist Church, 126 Green St, Cheraw, SC 29520.
Prior to the service, the family will receive visitors in the Family Life Center of Cheraw First Baptist Church from 1:00PM to 2:00PM.
