Julius W. Covington

Mr. Julius W. Covington, Sr., 79, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023.

Born in Bennettsville, SC, he was the son of the late Elliott Covington Sr. and Edna Lawhon Covington. Julius liked spending time on the water or in the woods hunting. He enjoyed fishing, but only if the fish were biting! He enjoyed watching NASCAR races on Sunday afternoons. Julius was a jokester at heart. He was always up to something and kept a certain sly look on his face. Julius had many jobs over the years, however he played the role of supervisor very well. Julius was a member of Cheraw First Baptist Church and The Cheraw Moose Lodge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah D. Covington of the home; his sons, Julius Covington Jr. (Tammy) of Florence, SC, Jason Covington Sr. of Cheraw, SC; daughter, Paige Covington Efird of Cheraw, SC; brother, Charles Covington Sr. of Cheraw, SC; sister, Ann Hiers of Florence, SC; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents listed above, he is predeceased by his brother, Elliott “Sunshine” Covington Jr. and grandchild, Jason Covington Jr.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 3 p.m. in Old St. David’s Cemetery, Cheraw, SC.

Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Covington family during their time of grief.
