Karlo Livingston Baker , 85, died Sunday, November 18, 2012. Born in Mt. Croghan, SC, he was a son of the late Wilson Joyce and Ethel Atkinson Baker. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. Mr. Baker was the founder of Cheraw Dying and Finishing, a member of First United Methodist Church, President of the Matheson Memorial Library Association, and was a board member of Pee Dee Heritage, SCNB, Cheraw Hospital, Cheraw Academy, Carolinas Hospital and Health Services and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College. He was an avid golfer, quail hunter and equestrian. He enjoyed reading.
Surviving are his wife, Lois McBride Baker of Cheraw, SC, a son, Stephen (Wanda) Wilson Baker of Rio Grande, NM, daughters, Beth (Matt) B. May of Jackson, TN, Lisa (Robbie) B. Douglas of Columbia, SC, Eleanor Lois Baker of Pinehurst, NC, a sister, Nina (Pepper) Martin of Greenville, SC, grandchildren, Mary Elyse Baker, Zan and (Kathryn) May, Rob (Katie) Douglas, Kris May O'Neil, great-grandchildren, Alex May, Owen May, Sean O'Neil and Thomas O'Neil.
He was preceded in death by his parents listed above and his brothers, Donald Baker and Glynn Baker.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC. The family will receive friends following the service. There will be a private committal service.
