Cheraw, SC
It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth Winburn announces his passing on August 29, 2023.
Kenneth was proud to tell people he was from Patrick, SC. As a child, he spent his summer days with a cane pole and a can of worms at Campbell’s Lake or Sugar Loaf Mountain Pond. Otherwise, you would find him swimming with his buddies at Ingram’s Mill. Kenneth cherished those friendships and memories of his childhood. This carried over into adulthood where his love of community inspired his service as Mayor of Patrick for two terms.
His career in Textile Management lasted over four decades beginning with Cheraw Yarn Mill and ending with Highland Industries. During his career, he took great pride in his work and the people he worked alongside. This cultivated into some of the most wonderful friendships and relationships that gave him pleasure.
Friends and Family will remember him for his quiet nature, but his quick wit would grab their attention. His love of telling stories from his childhood entertained those closest to him. Throughout his life, he was drawn to the outdoors and enjoyed activities like fishing, hunting, golfing, and camping. His one constant joy was working in his yard, a trait he inherited from his mother.
Remembrance of his life will be carried on by his wife of 44 years Betty, his son, Brian (Bryn), and his grandchildren. Along with one sister, Diane Winburn Dyches (David).
Kenneth was preceded by his parents John William and Margaret Pate Winburn, brothers John Pate and Joseph Larry, and his first family, wife Erma and children Phillip and Douglas.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to charities of choice.
The family requests privacy at this time.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
