Lucille Howard Gray, 91, died Saturday, May 21, 2016. Born in Cheraw, SC she was the daughter of the late William Butler and Airelee Caudle Howard. She was the widow of Howard Edward Gray her husband of 30 years. She was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, Cheraw, SC where she had served on the altar guild and in the preschool and kindergarten. She was an avid gardener and had been the recipient of the Four Seasons, Yard of the Month Award on several occasions. She was a retired seamstress and had made many dolls (Raggedy Ann and Andy) for children in the community. Mrs. Gray had a servant’s heart and made it her mission to care for those in need or by supplying food.

Surviving are her daughters Betty D. Hurst of Cheraw, SC, Sarah (Valentyn Potapov) Potapova of Kinston, NC, Caroline G. Berry of Cheraw, SC, grandchildren, Kaitlin Berry, Emily Berry, Deborah (Russell) Whaley, Chappell (Alisa) Hurst III, Dana (David) Jarman, Jimmy A. Kimrey, Mary (Kenneth) McLain, Holly (Don) Haire.  great-grandchildren, Micah Kimrey, Caleb Kimrey, Aiden Kimrey, Emily Kimrey, Joshua Kimrey, Cody Kimrey, Elijah Haire, Abigail Haire, Elissa Haire, Chappell Hurst IV, Grace Whaley, Phillip Whaley, Daniel Whaley, Savanna Daughtry, Michaela Eubanks, Destini Jarman.  great great grandchildren Grayson Eubanks, and Hallie Eubanks, and a special friend, C.J. Eddins of Chesterfield, SC.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, sons, Allen Gray and infant son Ronnie, a daughter, Roger Brenda Kimrey, brothers, Alexander Luther Howard and Allen Wesley Howard and special lifetime friend, Janie Mills.

The family will receive friends 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw SC.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, May 23, 2016 at St. David’s Episcopal Church. Burial will be at Old St. David’s Cemetery.
