Manfred H. Kollitz, 81, died on Saturday, April 3, 2021. Born in Graslitz, Sudetenland (formerly Germany) on October 8, 1939, he was the son of the late Franz Xavier Kollitz and Martha Maria Heidrich Kollitz. Mr. Kollitz graduated from the College of Economy and Technology in Erlangen, Germany. Subsequently he received extensive training in different phases of manufacturing with Schaeffler in Germany. In 1964 he transferred to Cheraw to help with the start-up of INA Plant #1. After working in various managerial positions, he retired from Schaeffler after 43 years of service, and went on to work at Lowes for 11 years. He attended First United Methodist Cheraw, SC and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class. He enjoyed traveling, gardening, and history. He loved spending time with family, grandchildren and his beloved wife of 53 years.
Surviving is his wife, Henrietta Malloy Hook Kollitz of Cheraw, SC; sons, Mark (Christy) Kollitz of Kirkwood, MO, and Jeff (Erika) Kollitz of Cheraw, SC; a sister, Herta Korb of Stuttgart, Germany; grandchildren, Julia, Andrew, Gretchen, and Kate Wilson; niece, Lilo Benya and nephew, Ulrich Korb both of Stuttgart, Germany; sister-in-law, Elisabeth Hook Cullinan, nieces, Kathryn Cullinan and Caroline Rabren; and nephews, Shawn and Andrew Cullinan.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
