Marc Maier

Marc F. Maier, 59, died November 12, 2020. Born in New Britain, CT he was a son of the late William John Maier, Jr and Susan Sarra Fitzpatrick.

Marc was known to many for his kind heart and willingness to help anyone he could. He befriended people from all walks of life and loved animals. He was a talented athlete through high school and continued his love of football as an avid Washington Redskins fan. A welder & millwright  by trade, he traveled the country working and always kept his friends & family entertained with stories of his adventures. One day his family may write a best selling novel filled with his stories and famous “Marc sayings”, which he would love as he was an avid reader. Marc loved his whole family fiercely; he was especially proud of his daughters & passed many of his traits on to his grandson and granddaughter. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.

Surviving are his daughters, Sarra (Jeffrey) Furr and Alex (Banyon Ford) Maier both of Cheraw, SC, a brother, Bill (Beth) Maier of Cheraw, SC, sisters, Sue (Guy) Mead of Isle of Palms, SC, Tara (Mark) Funderburk of Pageland, SC, grandchildren, George Coker Furr, Poppy Ford and Zoie Ford,  a step-mother Claudia Maier of Hartford, CT, a step-brother John (Virginia) Maier of Garner,  NC, a step-sister Sara (Sal) Lombardo of Middletown, CT, nephews and nieces, William “LB” Maier, IV, Mary (Mike Altebrando) Maier, Chelsea Maier, Jesse (Kera) Mead, Mica (Colin) Sutherland and Autumn Bryant. He also leaves aunts, uncles, and cousins in Connecticut - Aunt Judie Sarra (Bernie, dec.) McKinnon,  Uncle John (Eve) Sarra, cousins Ken (Pam) McKinnon, Lisa McKinnon, Jill (Jeff) Hoffman, Kyle Sarra, Amanda (Leigh) Bruno, Michael Hoffman, Patrick Hoffman, and Corey Sarra.

The family will receive friends in a virtual Celebration of Life for Marc at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 22.  A private committal of ashes will be held at a future date.
