Ms. Margaret Joyce McQuage, 72, passed away on Friday, March 1, 2024. Margaret was born on August 28, 1951, in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the late George and Margaret Chavis. She was a devoted member of Mechanicsville Baptist Church and faithfully attended Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
Joyce lived a life of selflessness, always putting the needs of others above her own. Her strong Christian faith guided her actions, and she found solace and strength in prayer which she generously offered for all those dear to her. An active member of her community, Joyce dedicated herself to serving others as a Girl Scout and Cub Scout Leader, as well as volunteering her time to coach their softball team.
In her leisure time, Joyce found joy in collecting coins for her extensive collection and in creating beautiful, crocheted baby blankets. Her kind and caring nature touched the lives of many, leaving a legacy of love and compassion that will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory is her children, Jessica Suggs (Robert) of Lexington, SC and James Nathan McQuage Jr. “Jim” (Pam) of Orangeburg, SC; her grandchildren, Mary-Baylus Suggs, Payton Suggs, Carter Suggs, Carrie Metts, and Katie Metts; her brother, Jimmy Chavis (Neva) of Orangeburg, SC, her sister, Marlene Rowe of Sulfolk, England, and her cherished adapted sister Kathey Lewellen.
Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, George W. Chavis and Margaret Steen Chavis.
