Melvin Linwood Wooten, 76, passed away on November 7, 2024. He was born on November 22, 1947, in Cheraw, SC, as the youngest son of seven children to Melvin R. Wooten and Irene Biles Wooten.
Melvin proudly served in the United States Army, retiring as Sergeant First Class, where he also contributed as the Assistant Chaplain. He was known for his simplicity and traditional values, cherishing his family and his love for animals. A devoted Christian, Melvin enjoyed spending time outdoors and embraced the beauty of nature.
Along with his parents, listed above, Melvin was preceded in death by a grandson, David Wooten.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his son, Michael Linwood Wooten (Nikki) of Chapin, SC; daughters, Gloria Bryant (Dana) of Chesterfield, SC and Ginger Lee Wooten of Patrick, SC; grandchildren, Gabrielle Faulkner (Jason), Joel Pollard, II, Laquisha Smith (Tyler), Ralph “Bo Bo” Burns, Jurnee Wooten, Kayden Wooten, Kinley Wooten, Mia Wooten, and Jacob Evans (Lauren); and eleven great-grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Wooten family in their time of grief.
