Mrs. Mary Blanks

Mrs. Mary A. Blanks , 84, died Friday, January 11, 2013. Born in Jefferson, S.C., she was a daughter of the late John Wylie and Virginia Gregory Atkinson. Mrs. Blanks was a devoted Christian who loved her family and church. She read her Bible every day and was a member of the Love Sunday School class at Park Street Baptist Church, Columbia, SC.

Surviving are her husband of 65 years, Cecil Everett Blanks; daughter, Barbara Jean "BJ" Blanks Nelson (Larry) of Columbia; grandson, Nick Nelson of Anderson and granddaughter, Lauren Blanks Nelson of Columbia.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by six sisters and five brothers.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Ruben Mayer and staff for their loving care.

Funeral service for Mary Jean Atkinson Blanks will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013, at Park Street Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Kiser Funeral Home, and Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, are assisting the family.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
