Conway, SC
Olin Jackson "Jack" Driggers, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
Mr. Driggers was born in Bennettsville, SC and was the son of the late Woodrow and Ruth Quick Driggers. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, SC where he taught Sunday School and served the church in many capacities. After moving to Conway, he joined First United Methodist Church and served as an usher, Sunday School teacher, and helped with various other church functions. Mr. Driggers was a Law Enforcement Officer with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and was promoted as Captain of District 8. He received the Wildlife Officer of The Year Award for the state of South Carolina in 1973 from the Shikar Safari Club. He retired in 1994 after 30 years of service and received the Outstanding Public Service Award from the State of South Carolina, Office of the Secretary of State. His most cherished merit of honor was his title of "Best Daddy and Most Loving Grandaddy in the Whole Wide World."
Surviving are: his wife of over 73 years, Frances Chavis Driggers of Conway; two daughters, Gaye Driggers of Conway and Karen Driggers Hewlett (Kenneth) of Columbia, SC; and two grandchildren, Kendall Jackson Hewlett and Kyle Hewlett.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM Tuesday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. John Sullivan officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery, Bennettsville, SC.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 - 4:30 PM Tuesday, as well as briefly following the chapel service on Tuesday.
The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of Reflections Assisted Living at Carolina Forest for the wonderful care they provided to Mr. Driggers while as a resident.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be made in memory of Jack Driggers for an outdoor garden and sitting area for the memory care unit at Reflections: 219 Middleburg Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579.
