Ravelnel Herbert Williamson, 77, died Tuesday July 11, 2017. Born January 8, 1940 in Cheraw, SC, he was a son of the late Jack and Nancy McCall Williamson. He was a Mason, and known as the local Handy Man. He was affectionally nicknamed “The Washing Machine Man.” Ravelnel had many hobbies, most of which involved being outdoors like fishing, shooting, and swinging in his father’s porch swing. He also enjoyed learning about his hometown’s history, making his friends and family laugh, and building and fixing anything he could get his hands on. Besides his children and grandchildren, among his prized possessions were the porch swing his father built as a young man and his dog, Wheeler (his youngest baby).
He is survived by sons, Johnny Williamson of Cheraw, SC and Dustin (Sharon) Smith of McColl, SC; daughters, Pam McClure of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Cindy Ingram of Cheraw, SC, and Deanna Skidmore of Cornelius, NC; 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Roberta Brigman of Cheraw, SC and Diane (Bill) Walls of Cross, SC; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many treasured friends.
Ravelnel was preceded in death by his parents, listed above; brothers, Howard Williamson and Glenn Williamson; sisters, Dorothy Smith and Judy Hogan; as well as former life companion, Myrtle Odom and loving wife, Linda Brooks Williamson.
The family will receive friends and loved ones from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday July 15, 2017 at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC, with the funeral service following at 2:00 PM in the chapel.
The burial service will be immediately after in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.
