Richard Lee Whittemore

Richard Lee Whittemore, died on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Binghamton, NY, he was a son of the late Cecilia Hanifin and Earl Clifford Whittemore, Jr.

Richard dedicated over 25 years of his career to the Schaeffler Group, where he worked as a machinist and made lasting contributions to the company. His professional life was marked by dedication and pride in his work.

In his personal life, Richard found joy in the simple pleasures—whether it was immersing himself in a good novel or spending quiet afternoons fishing along the banks of the Great Pee Dee River. He cherished these moments of solitude and tranquility.

Richard's legacy lives on through his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Peggy Whittemore; a son, Earl Clifford (Sara) Whittemore IV, of Durham, NC; a daughter, Brandy Lee Cooley, of Largo, FL; as well as his brothers, Thomas Whittemore of Jamestown, NY, and Earl Whittemore III of Gulfport, MS; his sister, Dee Turan of Saucier, MS; and his treasured grandchildren, Angel Hilson, Jasper Hurd, and Sorin Whittemore.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date to honor Richard's memory and celebrate the impact he had on the lives of those who loved him.

Richard will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
