Robert "Bobby" S. Baker

Mr. Robert "Bobby" Scott Baker, aged 87, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023. Born in Cheraw, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Eugene Hoyle Baker and Elsie Jane Scott Baker. Bobby was a devoted member of Cheraw First Baptist Church throughout his life. He served in the Army National Guard.

Bobby had a passion for nature and enjoyed spending his time fishing and hunting. He had a special fondness for feeding turkeys and took pleasure in farming and gardening. He was a loyal Clemson fan and enjoyed watching Clemson football. On Sundays, Bobby could be found watching NASCAR, cheering for Hendrick Motorsports driver Jeff Gordon. Above all else, Bobby cherished his family.

Bobby is survived by his sons, Scott Baker (Susan Joan) of Cary, NC, Coy Baker (Becky) of Seven Lakes, NC; his grandsons, Robby Baker (Megan) of Beaufort, NC, Timmy Baker (Hailey) of Zebulon, NC; his great-grandchildren, Eliza Baker and Afton Baker.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Mary Coward Baker; brother, Hartwell Baker; and sisters, Inez Baker and Myrtle Clayton.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in the foyer of the Family Life Center at Cheraw First Baptist Church.

A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in the sanctuary at Cheraw First Baptist Church.

Burial will follow in Old St. David’s Cemetery, Cheraw, South Carolina.
