Sarah Kent Hartzell, 47, died June 18, 2017, at her home. Sarah was born May 3, 1970, to the late Alice Gamble Kilgo and George Waddell Hartzell. She attended Cheraw High School, but graduated from The Grier School. She attended the University of South Carolina and Northeastern Technical College. Sarah worked many jobs starting in her teens, mostly in the hospitality industry, which suited her personality. Sarah’s favorite times were when she was outside enjoying nature, either in the mountains or at the beach, especially when she was surrounded by friends and music. Sarah was a true free spirit who loved her son and her pets with passion. She was known to greet everyone she knew with a big smile and her favorite greeting, “Be Easy”.
Sarah is survived by her son, Kavik Hartzell Carter of Florence, her father and stepmother, George and Emily Hartzell of Cheraw, her sister, brother in law, and nephew, Gamble, Gus, and George Anderson of Cheraw, her special friend, Crawford Hainey of Chesterfield, and several furry friends. She was predeceased by her mother listed above, and her brother, George Waddell Hartzell, III.
A Service and Holy Eucharist to celebrate Sarah's life will be held Friday, June 30, 2017,
5:00 p.m. at Cheraw State Park, Boat Dock Landing, with a reception following until
9:00 p.m.
