Wanda H. Sweet

Mrs. Wanda Hilton Sweet, 73, died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023.  Born, July 14, 1950, in Lancaster, SC, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Tillman and Gracie Newson Therrell Hilton.  Wanda was a graduate of Lancaster High School Class of 1969 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Winthrop College.  She was the office manager and medical coder for Mid Carolina Surgical Practice in Lancaster, SC and Blakney, NC.  She had an advanced license in Medical Coding and was the former Regional President for PAHCOM International.  Wanda also enjoyed volunteering for the SC State Troopers Association and the Marine Corps League at the State and National Conventions.  She loved Elvis Pressley, going to the beach, and watching her Clemson Tigers Play.  Most of all she loved spending time with her 2 Grand Corgi’s, Oliver, and Fergie.

Along with her parents, listed above, Wanda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Archie Henrey Sweet, Jr.; a stepdaughter, Julia Elizabeth “Julie” Sweet-Walden; a brother, Oscar “Buck” Hilton; and sisters, Catherine “Cat” Martin, Robbie Sue Knight, and Dot Craig.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, a daughter, Dr. Lisa Yvonne Usher of Lancaster, SC; a sister, Margie Vincent of Lancaster, SC; grandchildren, SaVanna Grace Walters of Myrtle Beach, SC, Braxton Richard Usher of Lancaster, SC; step grandchildren, Michaela Rose Sweet of Lancaster, SC, McKennley Issac Walden, Ronan Isaiah Sweet-Walden; step great-grandchildren, Julia Rose Fauser, and Jackson Fauser; two grand Corgi’s, Oliver, and Fergie; many nieces and nephews with special mention to her nieces, Tammy Vincent, and Donna Knight Pardue; and extended loved ones, Deah Stogner and husband, Brian of Lancaster, SC, Sheila Hinson Mullis of Beaufort, SC, Lori Williams of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Dr. Wendell Goins of Ballantyne, NC.

A graveside funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens in Cheraw, SC.
